The primary Forthix UI is its Jira project page. You can get to it from the sidebar of a project.

Clicking on the “Forthix” will display the available Forthix apps:

All Forthix apps are configured to have basic functionality out of the box. To view an app, click on its title. For instance, clicking on the Dynamic Status History app will render something like the following:

Refreshing an app

Forthix apps refresh daily by default. You can manually trigger a refresh by clicking on the refresh control in the upper right of the page:

Tweaking an app

To get the most out of a Forthix app, you’ll need to tweak it. Start by clicking on the edit control in the upper right of the page:

This brings up a Forthic editor where you can change some of the configuration parameters. (See the documentation for the specific app that you’re tweaking for more detail)

The configuration for each app is written in the Forthic language. Most of this should be easy to follow. To understand more, see the Learning Forthic page.

Some configuration values require a refresh of the app in order to see the changes (changing the JQL, for instance). This will be noted in the comments of the configuration.

After you close the editor, you can see the changes. If these look OK, you can save them by clicking the “Save Changes” button in the upper right:

To discard changes, refresh the browser page.

Really Tweaking an app

As you learn more about Forthic and get more comfortable changing it, you can do much more than simply configure the app – you can change all aspects of it and build something that fits your exact need. Each Forthix app has a Tweakers Guide that describes some things you can try. If there’s something that you need but aren’t sure how to implement, you can ask people for help in the Forthic Users group or send us an email at support@forthix.com.
